Description
Tamanyi, a 12-year-old carthorse from Bishoftu, Ethiopia, transports people to school, medical appointments and the local market. His owner, Dibaba, relies on his horse’s hard work to support his family. During a visit to a mobile clinic run by our local partner, Addis Ababa University, the vet team noticed Tamanyi’s makeshift harness was rubbing against his chest and girth developing into painful wounds. The team treated the sore areas and advised Dibaba on appropriate harnessing and safer methods of fitting of the harness. To help prevent future injuries, the vets invited Dibaba to a training session on safe harnessing and in the meantime they showed the owner how to fit the harness and provided some padding. Across the world, many working animals suffer unnecessary pain because suitable equipment is too expensive or unavailable. Your gift will be used where it is needed most.
