Dama, works as a ‘gharry’ (taxi) horse in Bishoftu, Ethiopia, transporting people every day, helping his owner, Abera support his family. When Dama developed tetanus – showing stiffness, difficulty walking and a partially locked jaw – Abera rushed him to a mobile clinic run by our local partner, Addis Ababa University. Tetanus is a serious bacterial infection and prompt treatment is crucial. Dama received a course of antibiotics and, due to the severity of his condition, was taken to the Bishoftu animal health & welfare centre for ongoing care and monitoring. Abera said: “I love Dama, he helps me to support my family.” Your gift will be used where it is needed most.
